filmLAB offers students the chance to learn filmmaking as a craft through hands-on apprenticeships. The lab’s workshops focus on the study of classic and contemporary cinema. They involve interactive instruction and exposure to all aspects of the filmmaking process. Each filmLAB apprentice is provided with access to professional film equipment and edits his or her work using Final Cut Pro software. Film-related field trips, master classes, and regular screenings of student-made work are an important part of the filmLAB curriculum. BBF has hosted Sundown at K-Town, a summer film series involving student work, at the BBF Center’s courtyard.
